We're scheming up new classes
And we want to hear your thoughts
Hello there,
And happy 2026 to all who feel caught up with the new year.
I say this because a wise friend recently told me how she didn’t feel like the year had turned for her yet, like her body and brain were still doing some catching up from 2025’s intensity. “How about you, have you settled into 2026 or are you still in 2025?” she asked. The question caught me off guard at first, but then I recognised it for what it was - a really nice way to note where you are actually at during a liminal time; a fresh alternative to just getting dragged along with whatever the external world decides is past or present.
So yes, I do feel like I’m ready to kick off 2026, but only as of yesterday (Jan 8th) when we had our first Mother Art House “scheming & dreaming” meeting of the year… all will be revealed in due course, but EXCITING STUFF IS HAPPENING AND THAT’S ALL I’LL SAY.
Anyway how about you? Where are you at with the new year? My hope is that you are good and that wherever you are reading this you’re using it as a moment to carve out some creative nurturance for yourself; maybe get inspired by an idea, or an image? It’s all up for grabs!
Anyway, that’s enough faff from me. We have looads to share with you this week, from sell-out class announcements to future events, online sessions and finishing up with some beautiful things to look at and be inspired by.
Please, mon cheri, do scroll on.
SOLD OUT
What a thrill to hear that the “Mum + Baby Art Class” we launched with Segotia last month sold out almost immediately. We truly had no idea what the uptake would be, we just knew it sounded like something we’d enjoy if we were new parents, so it’s great to feel this concept of looking after ones own interests as you look after your baby resonated.
For those of you who missed the boat this time but would like to be put on the waitlist for our next class opening, please email hello@segotia.ie and they’ll sort you out.
Next Gallery + Coffee meet-up
Our Gallery + Coffee meet-ups will be back taking place in a Dublin gallery/ exhibition space on the last Saturday of each month throughout 2026. That means that the first Gallery + Coffee of the year will kick-off at 10.30am on Sat Jan 31st (Brigids Day eve) in a TBA space that feels exciting.
We’ll let you know closer to the time where exactly we’ll be perusing around, but for now please save the date in your diary and keep a look-out for updates to come - there’s a few really good exhibitions we’ve heard about so it looks like we’ll have some beauts to choose from.
Evening classes
We are in the process of designing some adult evening classes and we’d love a bit feedback from you, our very much appreciated community, before we lock in any one concept. Essentially, we’re toying between technical drawing skills classes or a more general creativity/ “finish a creative project” class.
So the question is: Are you more interested in meeting like-minded whilst doing something mindless with your hands, or do you want to really learn skills in drawing and painting even? Would classical figure drawing with a live model be more of interest, or would a more open-ended exploration of creativity be more appealing? Let us know whatever your thoughts, and feel free to comment below or message us privately if there’s any other types of classes (or indeed, class locations) that you reckon could be a runner.
…Now is the exciting mouldable time where all ideas are welcome - let’s see where you take us!
Thank you for joining us allll the way down here, please allow us to thank you in the form of some creative offerings that we’ve spotted & loved of late, and we hope you might too.
Inspiration permeation
